What is Self-care?

Self-care simply means making an effort to look after oneself. This is done  with the intention of caring for ourselves and ensuring that our mental and physical health are replenished.

Self-care is unique to each individual and the benefits of self-care include improved emotional, physical health and increased resilience.

Self-care is unique to all of us, its about spending time doing the things that you enjoy that you know will replenish you. However, there are some universal items that can be included in your self-care regimen, this includes ensuring that you eat well, get enough sleep and include some sort of social and physical activity.

Sometimes we may experience difficulty or not know how to engage in self-care and this is when a psychologist may be able help. Psychologist can assist you in understanding better your self-care and help you plan an effective self-care regimen based on what works for you.
