Medicare, Private Health Insurance & Self-Funded Clients

Medicare is Australia’s health insurance scheme where the Australian Government provides a Medicare rebate (i.e., covers some of the cost) or may cover the full cost of a consultation for certain allied health appointments.

Private health insurance is another way which you can fund your appointments at the Wellness Psychology Clinic Australia®. Some private health funds may be able to fund your individual and or your couple based appointments, please check with your provider.

Self-funded appointment, means you fund the appointment 100% yourself. Therefore, you may not need a referral, Medicare or private health insurance, however it is important to check with your private health fund regarding their terms and conditions.

We welcome the opportunity to work with you. Please see our services and fees page for our current fees and appointment availability.

Mental Health & The Australian Community

The mental health of a person influences how they act, perceive, behave and relate to others. A mental disorder includes a variety of conditions that differ in how serious they are and how long they last. Our emotional, psychological, and social well-being requires mental wellbeing. Mental Wellbeing determines how we think, feel, and behave. It also helps decide how we cope with stress, interact with others, and make decisions. At every stage of life, from infancy and adolescence through adulthood, mental health is important.

There are many factors that contribute mental illness. Help is out there, and it is important to seek help so that you can better manage your symptoms. The findings of the Australian Psychological Society Stress and wellbeing in Australia survey 2015 included that the top five causes of stress in Australia over the five years were:

Personal Finances 49%
Family & Issues 45%
Personal Health 44%
Healthy Lifestyle 40%
